My Methods
Every home is different.
I’ll get to know how you live, then choose the right method to create calm, logical systems that work.
I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all decluttering and organising. Instead, I create a bespoke plan for your home using one of my two methods, depending on the space, the type of items, and what will feel least overwhelming for you.
It’s my job to lead you through the process step by step.
My Left To Right Method
For my Left to Right Method
we start at the left side of an area.
As we pick up each item, we decide whether it’s staying or going and place it in an appropriate pile: keep/donate/recycle/sell. We repeat this simple step, moving across the space, quickly discovering what truly matters to you.
Once the space is decluttered,
I organise everything that’s staying by reinstating systems or creating new ones, integrating clever storage solutions, and finishing with thoughtful details that make the room look and feel complete.
A great example is a playroom I transformed using my Left To Right Method.
We cleared years of unused toys and craft materials. I then reworked the layout of the room to maximise space, setting out clear zones for different activities.
“Sophie provides a safe space, has a compassionate approach, and understands that sorting through your items is not easy for some people.
Items are organised into sections, to keep, to sell, to give to charity and to throw away.
She is very patient and provides gently guidance and support on which pile items should go into. ”
My Categorise, Edit, Organise Method
For my Categorise, Edit, Organise Method
I start by pulling all items out of a space,
I then group them by category. So for stationery this might be: pens/pencils/staplers etc. Everything is laid out in your nearest clear space so it’s easy to see what you have.
We’ll then go through the items,
and decide what to keep and what to let go of. I’ll help guide you through this process if you feel stuck.
Then I’ll organise the belongings that are staying in a practical way,
keeping in mind your lifestyle and your wishes. I’ll introduce (or reinstate) some systems and leave you with a space that makes you feel lighter and makes sense for how you live.
A great example is a kitchen I transformed using my Categorise, Edit, Organise method.
Having the items categorised really helped my client to see how many of each item she had, making it easier to edit. Having the kitchen empty as a blank canvas meant it was simple for me to see where everything could logically go.
“Sophie was patient, understanding of my emotional attachment and helped me to create systems that work for me.
I definitely could not have done this on my own.
She broke it down and made it easy. My space is now organised in a way that makes it easy to use and simple to manage.”
WHY THESE METHODS WORK
Both methods are designed to remove overwhelm, reduce decision fatigue, and create order in a way that feels calm and manageable.
They give structure to what can otherwise feel like an emotional or chaotic process, especially for busy families and long-term homeowners.
My methods are proven, tried, and tested. As a CPD-certified professional declutterer and organiser, my teacher Dilly Carter made sure we were taught methods that actually work.
My work combines professional training with real-life experience, practical systems, and an openness to understand how homes function day to day.
I don’t come to your home with judgement,
I come with solutions.
THE END GOAL
No matter which method we use, the end goal is the same:
A calmer space where everything has a logical home, it’s easy to find what you need, and the room no longer feels overwhelming.
A home that supports your life, not one that adds to your stress.
